1/ The more I think about the failure to extend the eviction moratorium, the more I think there were powerful forces working against it. Too many people are saying “Hey it wasn’t us, “It wasn’t us, “It wasn’t us.”

2/ They didn’t *want* to extend the moratorium. And why? Because the very people most at risk of eviction are the people they want to go back to work at the low paying jobs that are available now.

3/ Lifting the moratorium is a way of saying “OK, you had your break, now get back to work.” Extending the moratorium would have given people more of a chance to consider other options, to be part of a collective challenge to the chronic reality of survival wages.

4/ They didn’t expect too big a reaction to this & as usual they failed to consider long-term consequences. But the reaction is real; it’s important to keep it up. I hope someone will wake up & make this right for the sake of those effected & for the sake of our political future.

A UBI or some kind of government monthly subsidy would’ve helped alleviate the situation. Jobs? What about putting our tax money for work for us? We are the most selfish, greedy nation on this earth!

Also extending it would mean there is still a pandemic, and they have been adamant that it’s over despite what we’re seeing. So just get vaccinated and go back to work, nothing to see here. It’s cruel and delusional, our reps are not grounded in reality.

I think it's more sinister than that. Interest rates are near or at zero. For several months land investors have been buying massive numbers of properties. Even people who paid rent are being evicted. This is a wealth grab, and politicians are helping.

I just don't understand. Helping these people keep a roof over their head is an investment in not only the health & safety of these families, it's positively affects our economy in the short, medium & long term. We will be paying for our shortsightedness for decades.

They spend BILLIONS in lobbying for policies that benefit businesses. Simple as that.

Biden and his people did not think this one through. The impact is going to be huge and will hurt everyone. He was involved in the Wall Street bail out where millions lost their homes, now this. His boot strap mentality worked in another era. Not this one.
