Nowhere in America can someone working full-time at a minimum wage job afford a 2 BR apartment. If we had given everyone $2k/mo during the worst of the pandemic, the eviction crisis might not be the humanitarian disaster it is now. “Go get a job” is cruel advice.

What full-time job pays minimum wage? I live in one of the poorest regions of the country and even fast food joints and gas stations pay decidedly more than minimum wage. Not saying it shouldn’t be adjusted but who’s actually making that amount.

why would anyone working a minimum wage job expect to be able to afford a 2 bedroom apartment?

You can’t afford a 2 bedroom apt making 18$ hr one bedroom apt are 900-1200 a month depending on place n that’s a huge issue inflation of rent is ridiculous now

How bout I not get $600 taken out of my checks for taxes n health care? That there is an extra 1200$ a month in my pocket then I could afford to rent n eat

Why not learn a trade ? Why work for minimum wage if you have the ability to do something greater ?

During which generation did a minimum wage earner afford a 2br ? My family arrived in the USA early in the last century, and it was not until the 1970’s did we start to afford 2br. And even then, it was at times 2 generations living together. How is now this a thing ?

I'm fairly sure that even a 1 BR apartment is out of reach and a studio is a stretch at best (still unaffordable at worst)
