Nowhere in America can someone working full-time at a minimum wage job afford a 2 BR apartment. If we had given everyone $2k/mo during the worst of the pandemic, the eviction crisis might not be the humanitarian disaster it is now. “Go get a job” is cruel advice.

Fortunately there are a large amount of jobs available right now that pay far more than minimum wage! 🇺🇲 👷‍♂️🧑‍🔬🧑‍🏭🧑‍🔧🧑‍🌾🧑‍🏫

Earning one's own keep is critical for independence, individual agency, and self-esteem. With all due respect how can you say it's cruel advice to suggest people work?

A lot of those jobs aren't coming back for years. Small restaurants and retailers and even large movie theater owners could not hold on.

I am willing to give Biden a chance to make the state/local eviction fund prevention work. I am not ready to totally write off Biden on this unless it fails on a massive scale.
