Unfettered unregulated capitalism absolutely is the problem. Capitalism has been weaponized against masses of people. Of course I say that. I’m just not someone who thinks the simplistic cry “End capitalism!” is the answer.

the core feature of capitalism is that you can pay money to make things happen. I can start a business and have people make burgers for my money. So that same principal will always end up applied to politicians as well. It's inevitable

No, that was not a feature of capitalism. It was a feature of conservatives on the Supreme Court who said money is free speech and then handed down the Citizens United decision.
