It’s so important realize that in the ‘60s and ‘70s things were not like this. That doesn’t mean they were perfect (especially for POC), but the widespread systemic economic oppression did not exist. The massive transfer of wealth into the hands of 1% have not yet begun.
In the 1960s, renters paid around 15% of their income on rent; homelessness was *not* widespread. Nowadays, renters in high cost cities like NYC pay over 30% of their income on rent; homelessness *is* widespread. Housing costs is the primary driver of homelessness. Debate over.

Tell that to Chile where Wall St. installed fascist Pinochet from 1973 to 1990. Chile's private pension model is imposed in Argentina, Peru & Bolivia and is a gigantic Enron-style swindle. Wall St. financial sharks set it up to loot the workforce/economy.
Violent Detentions in #PlazaDignidad, #Chile. Total blackout on Western regime-change media outlets because Chile is already a vassal state of the Anglo-American Empire. Follow @FpvrPrensa for updates. nitter.vloup.ch/i/status/1418715…

Single-factor analysis is seldom accurate and often completely skewed to support a partisan position.

A man in the 50s - 70s could graduate high school and get a job doing something as simple as working at a hardware store, buy a home, a car or two, support a wife and a few kids on one income. Now a hardware store job can barely support rent and food.

My dad was able to buy a tiny house for $35k in ‘79 & paid it off on his state employee’s salary shortly after he retired at 25 yrs service. That isn’t the situation for any of his 3 kids, all of whom are educated, hard workers. The next gen doesn’t anticipate anything good. 😔

In the 1960's ... the cost of the average home was about $15, 000 and the cost of the average car was about $2,700 ... and I don't ever remember seeing a homeless person!
