The Olympics represent an ancient effort to reconcile among nations. As corrupt as they can get at times (like now), they answer to a deep seated yearning for international cooperation. At best, they reflect an antidote to war. I’m all for keeping the dream alive.

I don’t see it that way. The level of athletic excellence on display is amazing! There can be a high side to competition.
