The Republican party is like a father who’s whipping you with a belt & the Democratic Party like a mother who’s so upset about it and she’s going to smother you with kisses & give you milk & cookies when the whipping is over. Which one do you think you’d grow up to be angrier at?

Working with abuse survivors, they are often more angry at the non-abusive parent for allowing the abuse to continue. And in the family, much victim blaming occurs too.

Nah, it's like being whipped with a belt with a belt with a Confederate flag buckle vs. being whipped with a belt with a rainbow buckle. And then getting locked in your room after with no food.

From my own experience, mom is slowly gathering resources, figuring out a plan, taking the invisible and necessary steps to get away. Of course, I didn’t understand this until much later after I had already taken matters into my own hands and packed his bags and changed the locks
