“If the U.S. government is successful in prosecuting Assange for those actions, there would be nothing stopping it from prosecuting New York Times or Washington Post reporters on the same grounds in the future.” theintercept.com/2021/07/17/…

Replying to @marwilliamson
Soon the whistleblower problem will go away as government can control private media companies. Covid is just the pretense to normalize government control of speech and press.

You already can prosecute news outlets for sharing classified information

More like OAN reporters. They wouldn’t go after the propaganda facilitators.

That's the direction we've been on, the thing is the Times & Post get leaned on HARD up at the Top & like most U.S. media, they DON'T go there! The truth nowadays is edited & manipulated, for public consumption. Assange isn't American, telling the truth should never be a crime!

And reporters from those outfits remain silent to this attack on Freedom of the Press
They NYT and WP believe they are now a branch of the government and above the law. #MinistryOfTruth
This is the logic you're arguing against: If the Wapo or NYT helped thwart a Democratic nominee's bid, they should be prosecuted.
Thinking Assange is a journalist is like thinking Kermit the Frog is an amphibian
NY Times & WP journalists are not stooges for the Putin dictatorship in Russia, unlike Assange.
