Our greatest natural resource is the brain of a child before the age of five. The most powerful thing we could do to turn America around over the next 20 years would be to massively front end our resources in the direction of prenatal and early childhood wellbeing and education.

Because 1) children aren’t old enough to vote so they form no constituency 2) they aren’t old enough to work so they have no financial leverage & 3) our political & economic systems were devised before women had a voice in the public sphere. We have one now & we need to speak up!

My point was that I wish society had this much foresight in the first place. Education is the tool that we use to orient our society, and the fact that we haven't explains why we are so aimless.
