Americans have been trained to expect so little compared to the citizens of other advanced democracies.
Socialism is an economic system. Democracy is a political system. You can have both.

We've been trained that money can get you what you want. It's resulted in hoarding wealth. Why can't we ask the rich if they want to help the poor? There is a way - can we find the will? Still trying to think of what to call the policy.
Wealth Distribution Twist: Would the top 15% of social security benefit people (bc they paid in more) swap ss checks with the bottom 15% of social security benefit people? Rationale: top 15% have other income, but this would be boosting the lowest 15% Could expand to top 49%

Marianne... Even Turkey has healthcare, always had. They want US people in that state just because its convenient in the short run. I don't understand though, big farma and all those entities, they can still make money on a single payer plus system, there's something more here.

And the higher tax rate argument is bogus: study’s show when Americans factor in out of pocket for healthcare, childcare, education etc WE PAY THE SAME rate or more. Difference is -everyone there gets these benefits. Here not so much. Merica. 🦅🇺🇸 vox.com/platform/amp/2016/4/…

America is a corporatised war machine that gives people so little - by design - that joining the military is literally one of the best paying most stable careers. Offshoring of employment by lumping health insurance costs on employers is designed to filter human resources to war
