Americans have been trained to expect so little compared to the citizens of other advanced democracies.
Socialism is an economic system. Democracy is a political system. You can have both.

We are indoctrinated to NOT learn foreign languages, NOT travel abroad and not do anything else that would give us perspective and a point of comparison to other countries.

A common misconception is there are "socialist countries"--there are not. Socialism isn't a capitalist nation with more benefits for the 99%, it is a question of *self-rule*, the economy run by and for the 99%. No rulers of any kind--just cooperative labor and living.

Perhaps people need to recognize that the reason for this, is that those other countries are actual advanced democracies, and the US is *not* a democracy.

They have something in Sweden called Lagom, which translates to “just enough” or “the right amount”. People are conditioned to take what they need vs. hoarding things.

This happens because most Americans don't have passports and never leave the country. And this back design. You could say that US is biggest economic prison in the world. People are too poor to leave.
