Americans have been trained to expect so little compared to the citizens of other advanced democracies.
Socialism is an economic system. Democracy is a political system. You can have both.

Agreed. It’s called oppression. It’s grooming so that the masses learn to believe they don’t deserve better. Similar to how abusers tell their victims they had to abuse them. It’s an unhealthy and totally toxic culture due to poor leadership from the top down near everywhere.

So call it like it is “social democracy” and relegate old pejorative labels like “socialism” to the ashcan of history. Like “enlightened capitalism “ the new term reflects the new iterations of political ideology.
