A billionaire I know once told me “My taxes are so low it’s obscene.” There should be a #WealthTax of 2% on assets over $50M & and an additional 1% on assets over $1B. Our government’s groveling at the feet of the ultra rich is the surrender of our democracy to oligarchic rule.

There is no democracy. If ever we had democracy. It’s all fake. The system is rigged. They are all - ALL. - all of them on it. Everybody knows what should be done. Democrats/ republicans - it is not going to happen. We need a revolution of conscienceness

Our Congress are the ones that makes tax law Lobby them

2%? 1%? Why not 99%?

He could donate it to the government instead of the government taking it by force. This type of non sequitur is profoundly idiotic. No one is stopping any billionaire from writing a check directly to the US government.

Why the hell are any of us paying these ridiculous taxes. The solution isn’t to try to have the government grab more money, it’s to reduce it. I don’t want to hear “mah roads”. 2 trillion and roads already suck. It’s not the tax revenue.

Actually, he should have said "being a billionaire is obscene." Remember - to die rich is to die disgraced (Andrew Carnegie)

I love you Marriane. I would disagree only in that the government doesn't "grovel' at the feet of powerful financial interests. By now The government IS those interests. Have you read any of Michael Hudson?

Yes, this is a level-headed, responsible method for helping to balance the obscene inequity of wealth.

Nobody stopped that billionaire or others from paying taxes but they don't do it anyway. It's all talk.
