Biden led the charge to make encryption a Fed felony. He inserted criminalization language in two unrelated bills. Phil Zimmerman brilliantly chose to release his PGP code as a book, figuring not even Biden would ban books. Biden backed off. But he’ll do no favors for Snowden.
