You can have respect for the US military and still have contempt for the profit-making goals of Raytheon, Northrop Grumman and Boeing. It is they who misuse and exploit the military for their own purposes, promoting and fostering a permanent war machine.

What about the endless excuses for the military business looking for vulnerable countries to get involved in their political agenda? Why the American troops are in 7 military bases in Colombia fighting against “the war in drugs” when WE KNOW it’s a lost war?

Once again, you astound me. There is no defense of the military. They train people on how to kill other people, which is horrible for the human mind. And mostly take advantage of the poor. That institution deserves no respect. Military's main goal is too to feed capitalism.

That being said, I don't have respect for the US military or anybody who goes into it for a "career." It's not meant to be a jobs program so we can perpetuate misery all over the world for oil and imperialism.

Slight disagreement. I respect the people who took a job in the military to feed themselves or their family. I have even more contempt for our military than Raytheon because it should be responsive to the public instead it’s a mass murdering tool spreading imperialism by force

And recruiters should not be talking to underage teenagers in their high schools. This opinion piece by Shane McCarthy recommending lowering recruiting age to 16 gives me the chills. Compare to... (1/2) militarytimes.com/opinion/co…

The military industrial complex doesn’t deserve any respect.

We need to abolish the US military, not respect it. It isn't just the MIC that uses it for its own purposes, it's global capitalism.

It's really tough to have respect for the US Military though.

Exactly, many men and women join the military so they can get an education.
