With SCOTUS striking down last remaining vestiges of Voting Rights Act, a major pillar of our democracy has fallen away. This means Congress just became that much more important as a counterbalance. As exhausting as it is we need to start preparing ourselves now for the midterms.

Doesn't the power struggle get tiring? There is a better way

The better way (among other things) is for more people to vote. A lot of people complaining now were totally distracted from the political process for years before they woke up to what was happening.

Congress as it’s currently constituted is no counterbalance. SCOTUS didn’t get this way by accident. It took bi-partisan commitment to create a court that would do this.

The conservative court is a reflection of Bush and Trump appointees. When people say there’s no difference at all between the two parties, this is what we get.

So we have an appointed SCOTUS who can overturn the decisions of an elected congress. Do I understand this correctly?

Three co-equal branches. Now it’s up to Congress to do something.

If by “prepare” you mean “brace ourselves for blowout losses”, then yes.

That’s not what I meant at all. I mean put your cynicism to the side and work like hell to make sure the Republicans do not control of the House and Senate after next year’s elections.

?? Why? Even when democrats have a majority in all 3 branches they won't pass voting rights legislation. What do the midterms matter at all?

Read the news a little more closely? More complicated than that.
