Climate change now at a place where we’re no longer talking prevention, just accommodation and adaptation. People speak about that casually as though it’s not an unsurvivable option for hundreds of millions of people. It’s like we’re sitting 6 inches from a cliff having a picnic.

Too many Americans buy into that "rugged individualist" mentality. If they think their well-being doesn't depend on poor people worldwide, they'll go right on with their picnic.
