1/ If we really wanted to fight crime we would do more to prevent it. Right now we spend billions of dollars to suppress the symptom and ever diminished resources treating the cause.

2/ We need to massively front our resources in the direction of children, making every public school in America world class & providing free higher education. Raise minimim wage. Healthier food.We need UBI & free health care. Everything we do to diminish despair diminishes crime.

Absolutely. But the government is committed to not doing these things. Look how quickly they passed a new federal holiday. But when it comes to meeting the needs of the working class they suddenly nowhere to be found. They only exist to govern for the rich and powerful.

You said in another comment that it has less to do with capitalism and more to do with money in politics but the truth is that money in politics is symptomatic of capitalism. It’s part of the way the system runs.

If the people elected into office are all rich folks who spend most of their time talking to and taking money from rich folks and go on news programs and do interviews for media companies owned by rich folks then they'll lie to the working people of this country.

The only reason that happens is because of capitalism. Without capitalism, there is no profit motive. If you take that out of the equation you're free to actually solve problems and find solutions.

It happens because of the undue influence of money on our politics. That is the factor that allows unfettered capitalism to have the undue influence on policy that it does.
