I think you’re a little late to the party on this question, Marianne. But kudos for getting there.

The country is awash in guns and cops are hyper vigilant regarding their fear of being shot.

Because the last time it happened, there was no accountability. So it happened again. Because the last time it happened, there was no accountability. So it happened again. Because the last time it happened, there was no accountability. So it happened again. And again.

US cops have a license to kill And no concern for the public they ostensibly serve

End qualified immunity. Everything wrong with this country is because the people who write and enforce laws are lawless themselves

Many reasons. Ability, attitude, training & legal protections. Potentially armed civilians give cops w qualified immunity an out to overreact. Untreated PTSD in cops. Long history of hiding data on trends & patterns of US gun violence & police actions. Lack of political will.

America's gun culture: if you *feel* threatened then you are allow to kill that

Maybe it's because the administration you support has made it really clear to cops that they can keep going about business as usual. Nothing fundamentally will change.

I have a question... The shooting happened over a car why is the photo of the teen one where he's chucking a wheelie on a 4x4 looking like a tearaway are people poisoning the well before the story?

From the outside looking in it seems that people have become desensitised to guns and using them. No fear. The laws make it easy to get them add to that the police powers and it ends in recurring tragedy. Why don’t they use tasers more? Awful news.
