The Founders debated the filibuster and decided against it for good reason. It isn’t foundational to the way the Senate operates; it’s a relic of the Jim Crow era. You can’t keep asking people to vote for you if all you do is give them excuses every damn time. @TheDemocrats

They were not all slave owners; some were passionately opposed to slavery. As ironic as it is in certain ways, the documents they left us are still the basis for moving forward in the areas of social justice. The Bill of Rights etc. would be considered very progressive today.
