Bobby Kennedy was killed on this day in 1968. It’s impossible to describe the collective agony and grief people felt. First JFK in ‘63, then Martin in April ‘68, then Bobby in June. There wasn’t the expression PTSD yet but the country has been in it ever since. Only now emerging.

June 6, 1968 ... we’re definitely not emerging now. We emerged from ⤴️ during the glory days of the Clinton admin, 1992 - 2000. Since 9/11, we’ve been in a new PTSD, exacerbated by economic crash of 2008, and now 2020 pandemic. Frankly, the 2001-2021 PSTD is worse, imho.

But I see people like the kids in the Sunrise movement plus so many others of every age who are perceiving and articulating the hints of a new beginning. It’s happening despite the death throes of an old order.

I don’t know who it was, but in none of those three cases was there ever the sense that we found out definitively who was behind their murders. The sense that justice was never truly done has left a gaping hole in the psyche of this nation.

Congrats to you for understanding the enormity of the events of ‘63 & ‘68. You are alone in the public sphere who is conscious we are still living in the trauma of those days. Sadly, the media has been hand in glove in the half century cover up.
