The problem with the current attention given to mental health issues is that it misses the point. A society whose bottom line is competition for wealth is inherently unhealthy, and its citizens will inevitably reflect the brokenness of spirit that derives from such a lack of love

How do you sane people even arrive at the conclusion of "we know that poor countries will give US new variants in the future if we don't let them make generic vaccines, BUT my donors think... and therefore we should put our people first".

We’ve observed over the past year the effects politics, poverty & injustice has had on the general public. Now back that down 35 years , we see increased suffering & madness in almost unbelievable numbers. We can’t go back and change it, but we can move forward in better ways.

Love of fellow, distant humans you’ve never met is, and always will be, a weak incentive. Money is a better, more lasting incentive if channeled correctly. This is why socialism always devolves into totalitarianism - $ isn’t an incentive and fear is the only strong incentive left

Some people can't even start the journey of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs in the current sociopathic economy. Even those that appear to be doing ok may still have underlying fear that they could get sick or fired and lose all their security. Human potential is being undermined.

On point. When the wealthy uses people with any kind of disability, that's beyond disgusting. To sincerely care for those that are suffering with any physical or mental problem, means you help for no other reason but to help. No person should be used to advance self-interests

No one is compelled to participate at unhealthy levels. There’s plenty of opportunity without all the drama.

Correct, and capitalism is at the root of that brokenness of spirit. It has a name, it’s called “alienation”. There’s a vast literature written on it and its connection to social ills. Just call out capitalism directly for the barbaric system that it is. Why the vague allusions?

@ggreenwald Socialist (looters) focus on the acquiring wealth from the productive. Productive focus on earning rewards for providing a service.

What your saying makes no sense! Mental illness is mental illness to compare it to capitalism or blame it on such is crazy in itself! Why can’t things be just what they are??
