The problem with the current attention given to mental health issues is that it misses the point. A society whose bottom line is competition for wealth is inherently unhealthy, and its citizens will inevitably reflect the brokenness of spirit that derives from such a lack of love

Sure, but free market capitalism is still the best system for lifting people out of poverty and encouraging innovation that improves quality of life. Removing the incentive to improve one's lot in life kills motivation. Mediocrity rules. Everyone becomes poorer.

Or try this: a country of 330 million people, in a world of air travel, instant communication, and big data, and the people believe a government forged 245 years ago in a country of 3 million, horse drawn travel, hand carried communication, and paper records, can still work? No.
