1/ Our society has reached a fork in the road. In one direction lies the accumulated karma for all the greedy, irresponsible ways we have conducted ourselves collectively for a very long time - a path of increasingly severe and accelerated decline.
There can also be no justice if you try to impose that arbitrarily. The time to impose equality of circumstances is in childhood; in adulthood people deserve equality of opportunity, which some will use to lift themselves up and some will not.
