How many lives lost by the North in the Civil War? Many paid with their lives.

600,000 died in the Civil War. But that of itself doesn’t address the self- perpetuating economic gap created by slavery. If you mercilessly kick someone to the ground for centuries, you owe it to them to stop kicking - and you also owe it to them to help them get back up.

Both sets of my grandparents escaped Russian occupation in Poland. They got kicked to the ground. They kicked no one to the ground. So when you say "you"...no. Not me. And those dead Civil War soldiers' families deserve reparations too.

Union families didn’t give enough for Marianne. Insulting to all their legacies. Disgusting.

1/ That is so absurd. Those soldiers died saving the union and yes, helping to end slavery. No one is dishonoring their sacrifice here. But at the end of the war each former enslaved family of four were promised 40 acres and a mule as reparations. This is not a new idea.

2/ After World War II Germany gave $89B in reparations to Jewish organizations. No one said that the fact that the war ended and Hitler was defeated was enough, therefore nothing further was owed.
