Looking thru Twitter you see people saying democracy is dead, democracy is dying, democracy might die, some even questioning whether we ever were a democracy. I see a democracy under attack and a generation rising up to say “HELL NO. It will not die on our watch.”

Exactly. The people making those “dying democracy” statements are playing right into the hands of those attacking democracy - They want us to give up. What’s with the quitter mentality?

We’ve never had a democracy. The closest we come was from 1970-2013 when voting rights act was “enforced”. But that didn’t do anything to reenfranchise people with felonies put on them by a legalized bigoted system. So NO we’ve never had one. To think so is the illusion of power

From my perspective Democracy is dead until we can find a way to remove the corporate money and lobbying (corruption) from politics. Until then the interests of the American people are not represented.

People are waking up to the fact that Democracy is just oligarchic rule by whoever is able to manipulate public opinion most effectively. For most of the past few decades this has been media companies, now "tech" companies are taking over

I see a lot of influencers chill-axing in their comfort zone b/c they already got there’s and aren’t willing to sacrifice an ounce. I also see a lot of folks struggling to get by and/or on the edge financially through exploitive broken systems like healthcare, housing, etc. 1/2

I'm a millennial and haven't seen anything resembling democracy in my lifetime in the US.
