If the Democrats don’t get rid of the filibuster then how can they accomplish the things that need get accomplished in order for them to win in 2022?

They don't want to get rid of the filibuster. They find it way to useful when they are themselves not in the majority.

The answer is their leadership is scared of wielding actual power and they will be relieved to relinquish what little they have come the midterms. Back to fundraising on symbolic gestures, where they're most comfortable.

Re-establishing the talk filibuster would be better than removing a potential safety mechanism when the Democrats blow their chances at reelection. Make those ancient conservatives yammer on for hours, make them expend visible effort in blocking extremely popular policies.
