The George Floyd Policing Act doesn’t go nearly far enough - doesn’t require substantially longer or even better training, doesn’t prioritize non-violent methods of deescalation, doesn’t seek to investigate infiltration of police by white supremacist groups. It’s only a band aid.

The Floyd Policing Act is an attack on police and the wrong approach. It will cause more domestic military action. Training should be a priority, but the more disturbing trend is the increase of crimes by criminals with illegally owned guns. congress.gov/bill/117th-cong…

A good friend of mine is a police trainer. He and his team tried to do training (that would have prevented this) in Minneapolis many times. Dems kept blocking.

It is not a band aid, that implies that it helped people, the oppression continues regardless of this act. The police are there to uphold the institutions of the USA, they are all, every last one, institutions of white supremacy and settler colonialism.

Not going far enough is the very nature of bipartisan compromise. Our legislature is a box of bandaids.

Without a ban on Qualified Immunity, this is all hot air. QI makes it personally inexpensive or free for cops to kill people. You want to make Black Lives to Matter in America? — Easy, just make those lives very expensive to take.
