That’s what happened here in Canada. It was called the Canadian Emergency Response Benefit. Now it’s called the Canadian Response Benefit. Many of us are still receiving it. We are appalled at how abysmally the so called “richest country on earth” treats its citizens.
Now that Covid is waning we can get some perspective on what might’ve been different. So many capitalist chiefs, celebrities, billionaires etc. could have called for a $2k/mo. while it lasted - no skin off their teeth. They could have ameliorated so much suffering & chose not to.
