A politics based on how we might more effectively care for each other rather than on ways we might more effectively compete with each other (and if deemed necessary even kill each other) is hardly naive. In fact it is the only survivable option for the human race.

The problem is capital. Capital runs the international rules based order. And the international rules based order demands conformity. Those territories that refuse must be brought in line through coercion or force. That requires weapons of war. And those weapons must be superior.

Perhaps remove all ideologies, beliefs, and political affiliation, and face one fact that applies to "both sides of the aisle". All humans need food, water, and shelter to survive, and without these things suffering and violence is inevitable.

Marianne you are very refreshing. I really like your reminders to care for each other. Personally, I love free enterprise but with all of our country's stupendous wealth we could take care of our less fortunate much better

Are you becoming a Libertarian? Caring can never be forced, it has to be voluntary. Government is force and concentration of power which inevitably becomes corrupt. Hence the need to limit it.

The noise has become so loud we cannot hear anything but our own fear. We need an educated public and an empathetic politic—first civility to recognize there is more than one ego, compassion and empathy to see beyond one ego, and unity to build the bridges that connect the truth.
