1/ Democrats and Republicans walking in lockstep in support of Israel no matter how racist and oppressive their policies leaned over the last 30 years has not helped anyone involved. It has not helped the Palestinians, it has not helped us, and it has not helped Israel.

2/.@POTUS treating the current situation with the same "Israel has the right to defend itself" mantra that he and others have been using for decades, willfully turning a blind eye to the Judaizing of East Jerusalem that set off this round of disaster, is unacceptable.

3/ This is one of many areas where politics as usual is morally lifeless. We need to replace it with a politics of love and deep humanity, looking far more honestly at the challenges of creating a just and sustainable future and with a willingness to change and grow.

4/ The rights of the Palestinians cannot and must not be viewed as less important than the issue of security for Israel, and ultimately they are one and the same. Nowhere and never has it been truer that until there is justice there will be no peace.
