.@RepLizCheney speech tonight was 100% right on. At a certain point this is not about left versus right, it’s about democracy versus authoritarianism.

I know, but democracy isn’t where we all see things the same way. I disagree with her on issues, but she’s very clear that Trump represents an attack on our democracy and for that I respect her.

Trump is an explicit threat to our democracy yes. You and I both agree on that. But Liz Cheney isn’t much of a saint on this issue either. Yes it’s good she’s not an insurrectionist but let’s not think that that’s some high bar.

She still supports corporate money in politics and various forms of voter suppression which are still threats to democracy, just implicit. Sure it’s not as brazen as a coup like on Jan 6 but she still believes in empowering the republicans at the behest of democracy

I have. It is good that she calls out the explicit threat to democracy. We see eye to eye on that. But I also at her inconsistency with her words on issues also pertaining to democracy (voter suppression etc.) The two are ofc not equal but they both threaten democracy is my point
