What a lot people don’t seem to realize is how much better off the entire society would be. Health issues, particularly mental health issues, would be much improved. People would have more time with their families. Huge amounts of despair would dissolve.

I feel like a lot of people with the power to make this happen do realize this and don’t care. And in fact, they’d very much prefer that society end up *not* better off in this way.

All those things sound nice but rely on people having empathy, which I find unreliable at best. I would appeal to self-interest. Just think about what people would do with the money. They would spend it. A lot of it. All that extra spending would send the economy to the moon.
