I’ve been ambivalent about this. Conversation with women’s groups in Afghanistan would’ve been a large factor in my decision-making. Even before 9/11 the Taliban was a source of brutal behavior towards women there. Truly horrifying.

Why aren't governments around the world evacuating these girls and women to nations where they will be safe? If the men in their society treat them this horribly, perhaps they don't deserve to have any. Religious fundamentalism has always lead to much suffering in this world.

Always avoiding the root cause as usual. The CIA is Wall Street, and Drug Money is King.
The Politics of Heroin and the Afghan US Pullout: Pentagon & White House say nothing about one of main reasons powers that be who control Washington have remained in Afghanistan since fake chase after a former CIA contract employee named Osama bin Laden.

The MisEducation of Marianne Williams: America's CIA has embraced terrorism since the 1980s. The CIA came up with clever textbooks for Afghan kids that introduced them to concepts of jihad, weapons and hatred for Russians. nationofchange.org/2017/05/2…

Tragic. It's easy to take security for granted until you don't have it.
