Humanity is careening toward a variety of scenarios that spell global catastrophe, for no reason other than we’re holding ourselves hostage to an economic system that puts short-term corporate profits before the safety & well-being of people. This is not just unjust. It’s insane.

Is there a better standard of living anywhere that surpasses America. We're doing something right. Even our poorest have flat-screen TV's, cellphones and cars.

There are many countries that have a better standard of living than we do. Switzerland, Germany, Canada, Sweden, Australia, Japan, Denmark and quite a few more...

Perfect analysis. How do we stop? I believe we have to find allies among those who, while closer to the top than us, feel trapped in this just as much as we do, and only need encouragement to speak up. We need everybody!

Do you know how many people would be less safe and lives of diminished well-being without a market economy? There is no alternative unless you wish others harm.

Many people are already less safe, their lives already diminished because of crony capitalism run amok in this country over the last 40 years. A virulent strain of capitalism, one completely untethered to ethical principle, is far from the romantic ideal of a market based economy

If you find socialism distasteful for some reason take a look at eco-socialism, AKA green-socialism, which addresses the problems in capitalism with a particular focus on the environment.

I don't find it distasteful. I like a European style mix of socialism and capitalism.
