I feel so pressured into saying the pledge of allegiance because everyone else is doing it. I hate saying the pledge. It’s so dumb and mindless. This statement gives off the same heebie jeebie vibes.

I actually like the Pledge of Allegiance. The fact that I put my hand in front of my heart when I was a little girl & pledged allegiance to "One nation ... with liberty and justice for all" is part of what turned me into a woman who gets really pissed when I see it not happening.

We don’t choose our race, our parents, our siblings, our national origins or the country we were born in. The pledge is a mind warp that makes you a docile unquestioning drone to the state.

So, you must be angry as a hornet after all the BS and lies we've seen as a country over these past 50+ years!
When have you ever seen liberty and justice for all?
Boooo. The pledge is bullshit.
But here in TX, the kids now recite the TX pledge as well, which I find so problematic. It's an inelegant word salad & just plain creepy: "Honor the Texas flag; I pledge allegiance to thee, Texas, one state under God, one and indivisible."
To me it felt like idol worship of our flag, a state-centered religion. I parroted along but it always felt creepy to me.

I can’t be loyal to the flag as long as police are killing black people.

You forgot the "under God" part

I leave out: "under god" and emphasize "all."
I pledge Allegiance to the lies of the United Snakes for pus-leaking Trump, and to the Repugnance for which he stands, his lapdogs riling God, indefensible, with Ignorance and Evil for all.
