I read it as a reaffirmation of our national motto “E pluribus unum”-a call to unite as one for the betterment of all. I’m sure the usual suspects will deride it. We need this, really. These fissures only make us weaker and suspicious of everyone-see our handling of the pandemic

John Adams said he hoped that every July 4 we would "revisit our first principles." I agree we need to revisit them, remember them & teach them to our children. Especially in school! But to me that's different than a "Loyalty Day." If DJT had done this we'd be out of our minds.

Truth. Out of our MINDS.
Marianne hitting the nail on the head 👍
Amen- do not be deceived
He did do this, just like every other pres since 1958
we'd be weirded out if DJT said it because of the intention behind the words. Intention & energy change how the words are received.

July 4th is the perfect day but I’m afraid that today, the altruistic spirit of this “loyalty day” will only be snuffed by the hyper nativism that besieged the capitol. Our flag was even weaponized. Thanksgiving perhaps?

Who is “we”, exactly, Marianne?
