Given conservative ideals of small government & liberal ideals of good government, Left & Right should be able to agree on ditching the Patriot Act, ICE & the Department of Homeland Security. Each of them represent government overreach & pave the way to creeping authoritarianism.

Like sweeping gun control, higher taxes, and regulation of the amounts of food available for purchase. Given your affinity for Socialism, I am suspicious of your fear of authoritarianism. (I agree with all but ICE. I know, I know, “rAcIsT.”)

This would be true if the right had any attachment to ideological conservatism. The whole small government thing was not an actual belief, but rather a vehicle to win elections. Once in power they have no problem with big government in service to an authoritarian agenda.
