An economic system based more on competition than collaboration will not only fail to solve humanity’s greatest challenges over the next 100 years. It actually created most of them & if allowed to will perpetuate them. We need a fundamental disruption of our economic status quo.

I support a mix of socialism and highly regulated free market capitalism.

Socialism and capitalism are not compatible. An economy is either controlled by the workers or it is not.

There are many countries that in fact do mix them! For that matter, public schools and police and fire departments are basically socialist institutions. We ourselves have a mixed economy.

Only in the last few years have we come up with this weird attitude that if someone doesn’t agree with us that they’ve “disappointed us.” Why have I “disappointed” you? Do we all have to agree with each other about everything all the time? Can’t we actually learn from each other?

everybody can agree that we "need a fundamental disruption of our economic status quo" and everybody here is on the side of empowering workers. I think this is one of those cases where focus on a theoretical -ism is a real detriment to solidarity, no matter how correct you may be
Depends, are you learning or are you preaching?

It's dissapointing because you've fallen into the philosophical trap that socialism is when the government does stuff, when in fact I would posit that socialism is, at least in part, about reshaping the relationship between workers and their work. Rather than going to work...

You haven't disappointed me because I have never expected anything more from social democrat politicians trying to springboard their career by hoping a few people will fall for your "I'm a totally a socialist" schtick.
Kinda comes with the irony of giving the nod to a system that doesn’t foster healthy disagreement and freedom.

I think he’s great. I listen to/read him a lot. And I think I know what they mean.
