An economic system based more on competition than collaboration will not only fail to solve humanity’s greatest challenges over the next 100 years. It actually created most of them & if allowed to will perpetuate them. We need a fundamental disruption of our economic status quo.

I support a mix of socialism and highly regulated free market capitalism.

Socialism and capitalism are not compatible. An economy is either controlled by the workers or it is not.

Replying to @TheRockettMann
There are many countries that in fact do mix them! For that matter, public schools and police and fire departments are basically socialist institutions. We ourselves have a mixed economy.

Public services =/= socialism.
"Basically" is doing a lot of work there. What you actually have is social democracy: taxing profit to pay for social services. And capital has been working for, well as long as capitalism has been around, to free itself from that small contribution to social reproduction.
It is not many, but ALMOST all.
Nobody thinks any of those “socialist institutions” do their jobs exceptionally well. Public schools are a mess, Police are under fire and fire departments are highly inefficient in large cities.
lmfao a mixed economy is not socialist
These other countries, what technologies did they develop that’s used on regular basis? Here’s some that American Capitalism has produced: electricity, automobiles, the internet, the smart phone and social media. All American innovations. What has, say, Norway developed lately??
Socialism is when the government does stuff I guess lmfao
