I like this idea. But is there a reason to push it right now? We’re still in a pandemic. Honestly wondering about the timing.

Reduction of carbon emissions is an emergency situation, so no it cannot wait. In addition to that it will create tremendous economic opportunity very much needed coming out of the pandemic.

Biden's infrastructure plan doesn't include the term "high speed rail" at all.
Marianne, I hope you will reconsider your position on HSR. Construction is slow & has high emissions. Instead, improving the existing rail system for reduced transit times (both passengers & freight) is faster & funds will go further. solutionaryrail.org/hrsr_rb3

I agree 100% ... Taking a train from Downtown Boston to Downtown Washington D.C. is a great way to travel ... No long rides to and from the Airport!

Also, the American defense budget cannot be left "off the table", when implementing actual policy to decrease greenhouse gas emissions - the Pentagon is the world's most obscene polluter.

Great we reduce ours, thru great suffering, while China,India and Russia grow theirs....A better idea would be get out of the Paris agreement,Demand those countries meet for a fair agreement to reduce theirs,if they won’t put strict sanctions and tariffs in their products.

I could never understand why we don’t have high speed rail at least connecting the major cities.
