Our military was once viewed with great respect around the world, seen as a power used for the most part to back up American values. Today it’s often viewed with great disdain around the world, seen as a power used for the most part to back up American corporate interests.

What? When was it seen as such? It’s always been a power for corporate interests.

The last time our military did something morally acceptable was fighting in WWII. From there it just evolved to become a brutal imperialist force to impose the will of the oligarchs that own our country.

You’re right that our abusive and belligerent foreign policy has undermined our diplomatic standing in the world. Beyond that, militarism is a roadblock on the struggle for climate justice.

We must 1️⃣embrace the #GreenNewDeal 2️⃣nationalize fossil fuel industries AND 3️⃣transform our foreign policy. The Pentagon consumes more oil than any institution on Earth. And its wars have often aimed to secure more. We must #KeepItInTheGround to protect the future. /3

American values have always been enslavement and primitive accumulation. The US military has always been a force for capital and white supremacy.
