1/ In a very real way, the shift from a pagan earth-based spirituality to the patriarchal Christian notion of man’s right to dominate nature was a causal factor contributing to what would one day become our environmental crisis.

2/ The environmental crisis and the political/economic corruption that perpetuate it are all fueled by humanity’s lack of reverence and devotion to anyone and anything but ourselves. An overly materialized worldview counterintuitively leads to violence toward the material world.

How does this country treat nature? No system is perfect, & we're certainly nowhere near close, but as a country we could definitely do worse. It's not like we haven't taken measures to protect the environment, between regulations & Federally protected National Forests & Parks.

Christianity as an institution is struggling to be relevant In this day and time. Pope Francis has opened a window for us all to care for creation. The world and the universe are bigger than our little human history. We have to reconnect with nature.

Well ironically this is me again just following the basic commands of being a Christian... " What business of mine is it to judge those outside the church? Are you not to judge those inside? 13God will judge those outside. " 1 Corinthians 5:12... Americans do the opposite smh

The philosophical argument is subjective to the agreement of two things. A- this is the best part of existence and everything that ends here is a bad thing. B- Beasts/animals are on and equal playing field with humans. I reject both of those so the point is a non starter for me

I said nothing about nature. But yes. I do think we are above animals. Which also means it would be out job to care for them and ensure a good environment because they have no clue. Being advanced means responsibility of loving stewardship not domination.

Okay. You admit you have an axe to grind and your viewpoints. That’s your position and I won’t argue with you on it as you have a right to think that. I assume you are atheist?

Have you ever seen love? Tell me what it looks like and what color it is.

Yes. Because most industrialized nations are patriarchal and exploitive. I don’t speak simply from a European or western perspective. That is the difference I think. There are divergent interpretations of scripture. Doesn’t mean the basic tent or belief is different.
