1/ At the onset of WW2 the United States did not even have a standing military...and along with others we still won the war. It was only at the end of WW2 that the “defense industry” was created....

3/ The myth has been created that a huge defense industry is necessary for our security. Yet it is nothing but that: a myth. The gargantuan size of our military expenditure does not represent increased safety for us or for others; in many ways it represents more danger.
