You can't arrest a demented old lady? Not my idea of a good cop. Nope.

If you have never tried to calm and elderly person with dementia you have not idea how combative and strong they are. They can be so violent and strong. Yes it can take a lot to get them in a place to be safe.

Why the hell wasn't a medical unit called as a " wellness check" . Continued repetition of a phrase or motion is a sign that even a shift supervisor with a chapter of study could recognize. Schizophrenia, dementia, catatonia rare just knowing the definitions of these would help.

Blaming the police is like blaming society in general. They seem to be representative of a general attitude which perhaps need to change. A good place to start might be reviewing the outdated belief in a need to 'bear arms'.

Police need re-training: trauma informed training, and greater awareness of disabilities (physical and mental), training on de-escalating situations where there is no threat to life. And compassion. Police are overworked, many have ptsd and little access to MH resources. #help

Jesus Christ, that was awful to watch! And the police wonder why we don't trust them.

Marianne what can we do? I’m so torn up over all this violence! We can’t even go out and protest anymore for fear of getting clobbered! Or blinded! Help!
