1/ I can’t bear to tweet about one more person killed by the police or one more group of people killed by a madman with a gun. Not tonight. I’m at a stage of simply integrating what it means that our country has sunk so very, very low.

2/ The overwhelming evidence that things are completely out of control is a naked truth we need to face right now. It’s in facing it - & feeling it - that we’ll be led to realizations of what it will take to get this country back on track. It will not be a quick or easy journey.

I wish I shared your optimism. But, pessimism aside, I'm still going back to school at 57 to become a drug/alcohol counselor while writing my book on how I survived the nearly unsurvivable. And unbearable pain made it all possible. So maybe you're right. Maybe we'll be okay.
