I know people are going to laugh at me about this but it always strikes me how these birds never look in the mirror so they actually have no idea what they look like.

I'm not going to even look at the other comments. As a person with large plate glass windows woods adjacent, I can tell you that Male birds are looking into their own reflection when they fly into my windows to do battle, break their necks, have brain injury then die. Year round.

Saw an owl on a hike with my kids, the other day. It looked like it was trying to intimidate us, the way it stared.
