I know people are going to laugh at me about this but it always strikes me how these birds never look in the mirror so they actually have no idea what they look like.

I once saw a Goldfinch fighting with his reflection in the side mirror of an SUV. Maybe it is better if they don't look in the mirror. 🙂

I suspect they get the idea by seeing other members of their own species which they intuitively recognize. Although my parakeet used to admire himself in the mirror so we thought he was a narcissist.
