This is the deal. Over the last 50 years, due to industrial agriculture we’ve lost 50% of our birds. So actually, as president I would be mentioning that in a press conference! It is a bird holocaust, and that’s actually no joke either for our environment or for our civilization.

Could you cite the source on that? I've read that US bird populations have dropped by about 1/4 over the last 50 years, which is still not good. But I was wondering where the 50% came from.
