It makes me sick and sad that homeless people are treated less than animals. These homeless people are no longer your average everyday addicts, they are families with children. Homelessness is the failure of our government. With all the taxes we pay, this shouldn’t happening.

So, put them all in Jail, and everyone will have to take care of them, not Medford. So sad people can;t help people

We need a coordinated housing response from the Feds, otherwise cities and states will just be pitted against each other. I envision regional federal centers that provide 2 to 5 year temporary housing, health care, counseling, and detox / mental health centers.

Minor correction.. @CityofMedford kept it a non-criminal violation (meaning you just get fined) for living in a car. But lying down near train tracks or living in a tent? You're going to jail. 1000s of ppl opposed this ordinance -- callous politicians don't care about human life.

Vagrancy laws are back great

fun fact: when I was moving in 2017, medford wouldn't let locals stay in their motels. a woman was very upset that the employees had to make sure customers lived more than 25 miles away to rent a room there.

Marianne, Austin TX is trying to pass this same law in the form of Prop B, whiich makes it a Class C Misdemeanor punishable by a $500 fine to sit, lie down, or ask for help in public. It doesn't solve the problem and only forces unhoused ppl to hide.
